Brewing the Perfect French Press Coffee

Ingredients

Making a good cup of French press coffee is easy and only requires a few ingredients. The most important ingredient is, of course, the coffee. A coarsely ground coffee is preferable for French press. You will also need a French press, hot water, and a spoon.

Preparing the Coffee

Start by adding the ground coffee to the bottom of the French press. Use 2 tablespoons of coffee for every cup of coffee that you are making. Next, pour hot water into the French press, but not boiling water. The ideal temperature for French press coffee is between 195 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit.

Brewing

Slowly stir the coffee and water together using a spoon. This step helps to ensure that all of the coffee is mixed with the water. Once the coffee is mixed, place the lid on the French press and let the coffee steep for 4-5 minutes.

Pressing

When the coffee is done steeping, slowly press down on the plunger. This will separate the grounds from the coffee. Once the plunger has been pressed all the way down, your coffee is ready to be served.

Serving

When you are ready to serve your French press coffee, pour it into a cup or mug. If you would like to add milk or cream, you can do so at this time. Enjoy your freshly brewed French press coffee!
