Brew the Perfect Cup of V60 Coffee with These Easy Steps
What is V60 Coffee?
V60 Coffee is a pour-over style of brewing coffee that results in a rich and flavorful cup of coffee. The V60 is a dripper made from plastic or ceramic that looks like a cone with a spiral ridge on the side. The V60 allows for a slower and more controlled brewing process than other pour-over styles, resulting in a cup that is both flavorful and balanced.
What You Will Need
To brew the perfect cup of V60 coffee, you will need the following: V60 dripper, coffee filter, coffee grinder, scale, hot water, and your favorite coffee beans.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Grind Your Coffee
Using a burr grinder, grind your coffee beans to a medium-fine texture. For the V60, you want a finer grind than what you would use for a French press. This will ensure that the water has enough contact time with the grounds to extract the right amount of flavor.
Step 2: Prep the Filter
Place the filter in the V60 and rinse it with hot water. This will help remove any paper taste and help the water flow through the grounds more evenly.
Step 3: Measure the Coffee and Water
Using your scale, measure out 15 to 20 grams of coffee. Then, measure out 250 grams of hot water. The water should be around 205°F (96°C).
Step 4: Bloom the Coffee
Once your water is heated, pour a small amount of it over the grounds and stir. This is called the bloom and it helps to release the gases that have been trapped in the beans. Let the coffee sit for about 30 seconds.
Step 5: Pour the Water
Slowly and steadily pour the rest of the water over the grounds, in a swirling motion. You want to make sure the water is evenly distributed over the grounds. Stop pouring when the scale reads 250 grams.
Step 6: Enjoy!
Let the coffee steep for about 2 minutes before you enjoy your perfect cup of V60 coffee.
