How to Make Flautas in an Air Fryer

What are Flautas?

Flautas are a Mexican dish consisting of a rolled up corn tortilla filled with various ingredients such as cheese, chicken, beef, or pork. They are usually deep-fried to give them a crispy texture. However, they can also be made in an air fryer with similar results.

Ingredients

You will need the following ingredients:

  • 1 pound of ground beef or pork
  • 1 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheese
  • 1/4 cup of diced onion
  • 1/4 cup of diced bell peppers
  • 1/4 cup of diced jalapenos
  • 1/4 cup of cilantro, diced
  • 12 6-inch corn tortillas

Instructions

1. Preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or pork over medium heat until it is browned. Drain the fat.

3. Add the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

4. Add the cheese, onion, bell peppers, jalapenos, and cilantro. Stir to combine.

5. Place a few tablespoons of the mixture in the center of a corn tortilla. Roll up the tortilla and secure it with a toothpick.

6. Place the flautas in the preheated air fryer. Cook for 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.

7. Remove the flautas from the air fryer and let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Flautas are best served with guacamole, salsa, sour cream, and/or lettuce. Enjoy!
