Brewing Perfect Turkish Coffee with Pour Over Method
How to Make Delicious Turkish Coffee at Home
Turkish coffee has been a popular beverage for centuries. It’s a strong coffee with a unique flavor and aroma that can be enjoyed hot or cold. In recent years, the pour over method has become a popular way to make Turkish coffee at home. Here’s how to make the perfect Turkish coffee with a pour over.
Step 1: Gather Your Equipment
Before you begin brewing your Turkish coffee, you’ll need to gather the necessary equipment. This includes a pour over coffee maker—such as a Chemex, Hario V60, or Kalita Wave—as well as a kettle, Turkish coffee grinder, and a stovetop or electric coffee warmer.
Step 2: Grind the Coffee
Once you have all of your equipment, it’s time to grind the coffee. Turkish coffee is traditionally ground very fine, almost like a powder. If you don’t have a Turkish coffee grinder, you can use a burr grinder set to its finest setting. Make sure to measure the coffee before grinding so you can get an accurate measurement.
Step 3: Boil the Water
Next, you’ll need to boil the water. A good rule of thumb is to use twice as much water as you have coffee. For example, if you are using one tablespoon of coffee, you’ll need two tablespoons of water. Boil the water in a kettle or pot on the stove and then let it cool for a few minutes.
Step 4: Prepare the Pour Over
Now you’re ready to start brewing the coffee. Place the filter in the pour over and add the ground coffee. Make sure the grounds are evenly distributed and there are no clumps. Slowly pour the boiled water into the pour over, starting from the center and working your way outward in a circular motion. Let the water drip through the grounds and into the cup below.
Step 5: Enjoy!
Once all of the water has dripped through, your Turkish coffee is ready to drink. Enjoy it hot or cold and savor the unique flavor of this delicious beverage. With a little bit of practice, you’ll be able to make the perfect cup of Turkish coffee every time.
